Posted in words on February 21, 2008 by rereconI approach a doorway were a young blonde stands…
lady in the doorway: would you like to come in?
me: no, I’m afraid I have no money, but I’m working on a photography project on Soho, would you mind if I photographed you?
lady: no, I’m sorry, but for you £30 for one hour?
me: no, thank you, good night.
lady: good night
I had this basic conversation twice, and decided it was fruitless… so not to have it again. Whilst I know that half a prostitute’s job is to be falsely over friendly, I couldn’t help admire how polite and smiley both were, the first even wishing me a goodnight.
…another roll of B&W (this time at a higher film speed, apparently more suited to night shooting) to drop off tomorrow, with no hookers.

the (relative) tranquility of a sunday evening 17/2/08
Posted in digital SLR, words on February 17, 2008 by rereconon a sunday evening though the city hums below,
the rooftops maintain calm…
but even a venture into the pedestrian zones of wardour, old compton and carnaby and the weekends excitements seems to have faded to a nostalgic memory.
